Synonymous with pickup trucks, the Dodge RAM has revolutionized the pickup truck segment in the country. The pickup truck segment didn’t really exist up until the early 1990s, with Americans fancying sedans and other cars over pickup trucks, which were viewed as work vehicles. The 1994 Dodge RAM pickup changed that, earning widespread adoration and transforming the American automotive viewpoint in no time.
Fast forward to 2020 and the pickup truck segment accounts for about 15% of all auto sales in the country. However, the Dodge RAM is still one of the leading players in the segment, increasing its year-on-year pickup truck sales by a substantial margin.
The all-new 2020 RAM 1500 is exceeding expectations already and could be on its way to breaking records set by the 2019 edition of the pickup truck. Here are four reasons why it has an advantage over its predecessor.
- EcoDiesel V6 engine
Unlike the 2019 RAM 1500, all the 2020 Dodge RAM 1500 trims will have the EcoDiesel V6 engine. The all-new turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 engine offers 260 horsepower and 480 pounds-feet of torque. This gives the truck a stunning towing capacity of 12,560 pounds.
The EcoDiesel engine is smooth and creates very little noise. It is also well-versed with off-rounding and provides a fuel efficiency of around 20-30 depending on the conditions. Acceleration is another great benefit of the EcoDiesel, making it a pleasant experience for drivers.
- Night Edition Package
The Big Horn and Laramie models of the 2020 RAM 1500 come with Night Edition. This feature pairs all exterior and even some interior components black. The exterior accents, including the logo on the grille and headlamps bezels, are all in black, which gives it a stunningly sleek look.
Seats are provided with black finishing as well, with the 20-inch satin black aluminum wheels on the Big Horn and 22-inch forged aluminum wheels on Laramie adding exemplary style to the exterior.
- Rebel Black Appearance Group
One of two variants offered in the 2020 RAM 1500 Rebel models, Black Appearance compulsorily carries Diamond Black Crystal Pearlcoat paint, black 18-inch wheels, front spoiler, tow hooks, skid plate, and exhaust. There’s also black bezels on its LED headlights and an all-black interior matching the theme.
Almost all Rebels are necessarily equipped with power tailgate release, rear-heated seats, and 12-way power driver’s seat with memory settings. Furthermore, you can take the optional 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system with the model.
- Rebel Safety Group
All Rebel models also come with an optional Rebel Safety Group that includes forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with stop, go & hold.
