When it comes to footwear, there can never be too many. Everyone needs shoes for casual, formal, and party wear. Some may also want to add designer shoes to their collection. With so many requirements, Black Friday is a great time to buy shoes, thanks to the massive discounts. While the discounts are not out yet for Black Friday 2023, buyers can gauge the kind of prices to expect based on ongoing and previous year’s sales.
Athletic shoes and work boots
1. Running shoes support a runner’s arches, prevent injuries, and help improve performance. Some use running shoes for casual wear, as they are comfortable, durable, versatile, and come in attractive designs and styles. Some popular running shoe brands include NoBull, Allbirds, Adidas, Nike, Reebok, Skechers, New Balance, and Hoka. Most had more than 50% discounts on some of their products. In fact, Addidas has already slashed prices by 55% on the UltraBounce Wide Running Shoes.
2. While shopping for hiking and outdoor shoes, look for safety, durability, and comfort. Some of the best-known hiking and outdoor shoe brands include Merrel, Keen, Oboz, Arc’teryx, Altra Running, and Hoka. Buyers could save about $195 last year on a Danner Mountain Light Hiking Boot on Huckberry.
3. Work boots and shoes are meant to protect workers from workplace hazards and comply with regulatory compliance. They are made from waterproof materials and are resistant to chemicals; the heels and soles are slip-resistant. Some leading workshoe and boot brands include Keen, Wolverine, Thorogood, Red Wing, Ariat, and Nicks. Customers could save up to $80 on the men’s Thorogood Emperor Composite Toe Work Boot.
Casual shoes
4. Sneakers made with leather are considered formal sneakers, and those made with natural or synthetic fabric are casual sneakers. Casual sneakers have rubber soles and are comfortable and suitable for casual wear and walking. They are trendy and are being gradually accepted as office wear. Some luxury brands have released sneaker brands, too. Some of the best casual sneaker brands include Morjas, Myrqvist, Loci, Crown Northampton, Clae and Aurelien, and Nike. Last year, Nike launched up to 60% off sitewide, and shoppers could save an extra 20% on casual sneakers by using a promo code. The $160 Air Max 270 sneakers were available for just a little over $100.
5. The definition of comfort is highly personal, though generally, comfort shoes support posture, prevent injury and pain when worn for long hours, and are comfortable for daily wear. They have wider toe boxes and cushioned soles, provide good arch support, and are made with breathable material. Loafers, ballet flats, Oxford shoes, flip-flops, and clogs are a few examples of comfort shoes. Aldo’s Bigstrut White loafers were sold at a $50 discount last year.
6. Platform footwear can be shoes, boots, or sandals with a three- to 10-centimeter heel thicker than regular high heels. It is essential to choose a platform shoe that matches one’s outfit and is comfortable. While many brands have trendy platforms for women, some designer brands are experimenting and releasing classic platforms for men. Some popular platform brands are Teva, Vans, Melissa, Circus Stuart Weitzman, Mango, and Reformation Maize. Last year, customers got 20% off on Vans Old Skool Stackform Mono Embroidery Shoes.
7. Sandals are not just for the summer. Both men and women prefer sandals, as they are practical, comfortable, and best suited for casual wear, travel, adventure, and the beach. Sandals are not advisable for formal or office wear, even if they are expensive and high-end. Some leading trendy sandal brands include Bedrock, Earth Runners, Birkenstock, Keen Sandals, Oka B, and Sbicca. Last year, customers got up to 60% off Birkenstock sandals at Footlocker, a leading footwear retailer.
Formal shoes
8. Dress shoes are classified as Derbys or Oxfords. They do not expose one’s feet and are made of high-quality leather. They are best suited for dress pants, button-up shirts, black-tie suits, and tuxedos. There are some guidelines on when to wear a Derby and when to wear an Oxford shoe. Some of the leading dress shoe brands for men include Cole Haan, Manganni, Ted Baker, Gucci, and Taft. There was a 20% discount on Cole Haan dress shoes on Kohl’s website.
9. Brogues are versatile, stylish, and comfortable. They should be a staple in everyone’s shoe closet. Last year, DSW, one of the largest shoe retail stores in the country, had a wide collection of women’s and men’s shoes, such as brogues, on sale. It featured a wide range of brands, from affordable to the most luxurious and designer shoe brands like Kelly & Katie, Crown Vintage, and Mix No. 6. DSW typically offers up to a 40% discount on shoes for men and women.
10. Pumps are dress shoes with buckets; they are stylish and can elevate any outfit. Last year, Nordstrom, one of the go-to places for women’s shoes, featured some of the most popular, designer, and luxurious shoe brands and offered up to 70% savings on formal shoes like pumps.
